On June 10, 2011 Patsy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Soon after, she underwent a double mastectomy
and reconstructive surgery. Inspired by the help and support she received along the way she is telling her
story and raising $100,000 for the IWK Foundation and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation – Atlantic Region.
Patsy’s story is one of a woman reclaiming her body and learning to love herself again, “Your body is forever
changed, you’re never going to look like you did before so you have to give that up,” she says.
Rather than go back to what her breasts were before, she chose instead to embrace her ‘new bits and pieces’
as the perfect canvas for a beautiful, personal, art piece. “I look at them now and they are beautiful and they’re
joyful. It’s a new beginning. They’re blossomed.
It’s life. It makes me happy.”
